You have just got your university timetable and they have given you a whooping three hour gap between your lectures. Most students that live in Sheffield will probably go home, eat, study or maybe even have a nap. However, if you don’t have enough time to travel home and back, or are relatively new to Sheffield you might want to explore and find something to do. Here is a list of things you can do either on your own or with friends.
1.Visit the Millennium Gallery – It is very close to Sheffield Hallam University buildings and perfect for those who appreciate art, creativity and design. This museum showcases a variety of pieces that are worth a look at and there is a café inside for those who are hungry after their walk round.
2.Sheffield Botanical Gardens – For those looking for a peaceful activity to do during their break, take a walk around the Botanical Gardens in Broomhall. With a range of stunning plants and a beautiful greenhouse, it is the ideal place to relax after a stressful lesson. Unfortunately, it is not as close the gallery, it is a 20 minute bus ride or a 40 minute walk.
3. Sheffield cinemas – There are a number of cinemas to visit in the city centre and all close to Sheffield Hallam University buildings, the first being Odeon Luxe which is near the Adsetts Library. The Light Cinema is located in The Moor and a quirky cinema called Showroom, which showcases independent films that may not be shown in mainstream cinemas.
4.Centertainment – This complex is only a tram ride away and is packed with plenty of things to do. There is a Cineworld cinema, plenty of restaurants, bowling, laser quest and mini golf. A superb way to spend your break for those looking for a bit of fun and a good laugh.
5.Meadowhall – Fancy a little shopping trip? A quick five minute train ride and you will have arrived at the massive shopping centre that can cater to everyone’s needs. There is also a large variety of restaurants if you are in the mood for a fancy lunch. It is also very close to Centertainment, so it may be a nice idea to have a walk over there and see what’s going on.
