Top 10 Facetime Date Ideas

Hope Horsman

In the midst of our third lockdown, one can bet that many dates have had to be cancelled. So here are some date ideas that can be done over facetime.

First date

Making dinner – Choose a meal that neither person can cook and have fun watching each other try and create the dish. It will be like going to one of those couple cooking classes, but in the comfort of being at home and it is just the two people, so there is no need to be worried about being yourselves in front of others. Then, the two of you can rest your phones in front of you and enjoy the (hopefully) delicious meal.

Games – There are plenty of entertaining games you can play whilst over facetime and they are a great way to simply have fun, getting to know each other with questions whilst playing. It also shows that competitive side to people, making you really engaged with the other person and what you are doing together.

Second date

Movie night – A very basic date night but it is easy to arrange. It is also a brilliant way for people who are still new to each other or relatively new to the relationship can show what they like and show a little bit more of themselves. Stick a tv show or movie on at the same time (good luck with that) and pause when you want to discuss something or laugh about what’s happening.

Stargazing – Now this one is going to be a very cheesy one, but it is a very cute date to have. Facetime your partner and go into your garden, balcony or just look out the window and use this chance to have deep and meaningful conversations.

Third date

Plan more dates – The time could be used as a date to plan more dates. There are plenty of more date options when lockdown lifts, as long as both parties follow the rules and go on these planned dates sparingly to protect themselves. Even future holidays that you want to go on (might have to wait a while until they can happen), it is a brill way to build up an excitement and hopefulness to see each other.

Painting – Everyone has seen those cute dates all over their Instagram Explore where a couple go on a picnic and paint together. It is very easy to do this over facetime and painting is another technique that lowers stress levels and an activity where you can create this (very large) bubble of peace over the two of you.

Fourth date

Study date – This is probably the perfect way to get in a little date night, every night. A faultless date to just enjoy each other’s company, have some small talk and appreciate the comfortable silence between each other.

Watch a sports match – There are many platforms online or on the tv where people can watch sports matches, so use these to your advantage to have cute sports dates. Find out what kind of sports you are both into, and if someone is not into any then what sports the other can introduce them to. Showing an interest in something that they love will mean a lot to the other person.

Long-term

A karaoke night – Who needs to waste money at a bar when all that everyone needs to do is hop onto facetime and belt some tunes. This is the perfect date if the two of you are not comfortable with each other yet or the relationship is new as the two will be opening up a bit more to each other and showing their goofy side.

Dancing – Just like karaoke night, dancing is an ideal goofy date as both can laugh at each other’s bad dancing. The movement and happiness that comes with dancing creates dopamine and serotonin, which lowers the body’s stress and are feel-good hormones. Thus, making the date enjoyable and the feeling that comes with those hormones, you may associate with the person you are on the date with.
