This is the latest event in our ‘throwback fashion’ series… we’re now rewinding to the early 90s, 30 years ago to assess the fashion trends. It’s clear to see a notable rotating of fashion in these trends. You can see where a lot of today’s styling has been based on!
Bandanas

Bandanas were huge in the 90s. Celebs were taking them down the red carpet, everyone seemed to own them… they were a big deal. Are bandanas making a re-appearance in today’s society? I feel as though they are most definitely on the rise once again with influencers such as Addison Rae and Charli D’Amelio.
Mom Jeans

Skinny jeans were a rarity in the 90s and I can understand why. Mom jeans are a billion times comfier and honestly, how hot does Tyra Banks look! Mom jeans are simply wonderful… honesty, I don’t have a bad word to say! I’m glad that they have come back with avengence because our legs are breathing!
Blazers

The 90s was just the epitome of great fashion. Looking back on this era is simply fascinating, it was effortless. Although, I can’t imagine that if I threw on some jeans, a blazer, bra and a cowboy hat, that I would look as good as J.Lo. The 90s was an era of knowledgable fashion staples and blazers were ahead in that game, upgrading any outfit to red-carpet ready.
School-girl Chic

I couldn’t get through this throwback without including Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston). The outfits for this fashionista character were enviable, we all wanted to nab some items from her wardrobe. Her style is something that still lives on today and we all love Friends for it. This school-girl chic is cute, classy and requires minimal effort… just wonderful.
Glittery Two-Pieces

The 90s were notorious for a bit of sparkle. Here we have Toni Braxton holding up the game. Showing off her gorgeous figure, these diamonds were made for this era and for this lady! The only thing I have a problem with is the choice of bag, nothing should be in the way of this two-piece… a clutch may have been the winning choice.
Button-down Shirts

Simple yet effective. A colourful lip, button-down shirt and some mom jeans. One of the notorious looks from the 90s and one of the easiest. Reece Witherspoon is showing the outfit to the best of its ability here, teaming it with a simple black belt and small bag…lovely!
Madonna’s Cone Bra

I could not make it through this list without including one of, if not the, most jaw-dropping outfit of this era. Dancing on stage in her underwear, designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, Madonna caused a huge stir! The bra was that famous that in 2012, it sold for around $52,000 to a private bidder… crazy money!
LBD’s (Princess Di)

Princess Diana was THE fashion icon of the 90s. Her well-known ‘revenge dress’ dropped many jaws globally, and still continues to now. Her LBD has inspired so many looks for people that have followed suit. This is a look that will play in our minds for years to come.
Cycling Shorts and Oversized Jumper

Princess Diana could look incredible whether she was dressed-up or dressed-down and this is the perfect example. She was onto the ‘uni-girl’ trend way before any of us! This is one of the comfiest looks that we all love to reach for now and it makes it all the better knowing that Princess Di was the predecessor.
Slinky Slip-dresses

How stunning does Sarah Jessica Parker look in this dress? The barely-there straps are just lovely and the minimalist makeup look accentuates her true beauty. Slip dresses were a love for a lot of 90s stars and honestly can you blame them? These dresses aren’t walk-restrictive and instead just embrace the body whilst remaining comfortable.
One of the most beautiful things about the fashion trends of the 90s is how effortless and comfortable it was. Most of the outfits scream ‘relaxed’ and I love that! After all, why shouldn’t you be comfortable whilst looking glamorous.
