TikTok-Style Road Trip Essentials

Leana Goulden

We’ve all seen the TikTok trend – the cosy set-up, watching a film with a sunset in the background. Very enviable indeed! But what’s stopping you? Road trips can be changed up! If you’d prefer to go sightseeing and just use your car as a way of getting there – go for it! Wanna drive into the abyss and set up your car for date night – also easy to do! I’ve prepared a little checklist for when you do go!

Duvet – Regardless of whether this was your intention or not, if you get tired when driving – don’t carry on. Find a safe space to park and take a quick nap! Duvets can always help to get you straight off into a state of bliss!!

An idea – Make sure you know beforehand what it is that you’d actually like to do or see. Spontaneous trips are legendary but arriving somewhere that says ‘you needed to book’ is pretty annoying. A vague idea is always valuable with a road trip – plus then you can pack a little easier.

Laptop/ Tablet – If you are wanting to replicate the Tiktok, a device to watch something on is pretty important!

Charger – Make sure you bring a charger for your device that can be used in the car – imagine getting to the last half an hour of your film and it blacks out, don’t let that happen!

Food – No road trip is going to be successful without food – more specifically snacks. Are you more savoury or sweet? To be fair, in this instance, just bring it all!

A flask filled with a warm drink – The warm drink is optional of course but I would highly recommend bringing a flask of hot chocolate and a can of squirty cream – it is the winning combination!

Star Chart – If you’re heading out in the evening, why not get clued up on the night sky! It will be super cute and the chart will direct you to which bit of the sky you should be looking at.

Chairs – If you are more of into sightseeing and not sleeping in the car, chairs are a good option! Camping chairs watching the sunset is equally as dreamy!!

Disposable BBQ – If you’re planning to go soon in the summery months, why not have your dinner out in the wild, throw some food on the barbie and voila!

Portable radio – Again, if you don’t fancy a movie or exploring – Why not put some background music on the radio, wrap yourself in a duvet and take in some scenic views.

So, when are you going?? Have a look through your plans for the week and see what you can fit in! Make sure to let us know what you get up to at The Student Aspect.
