The perfect shorts for summer 2021

Now we all know those basic denim shorts all too well, sit just nicely on the hip, and serve a purpose as a wardrobe staple, but we can do better than that! With the lockdown restrictions easing, for what we hope is ‘for good’, let’s refresh your wardrobe. Here are a few different styles and the perfect shorts to rock in the summer of 2021!

Paperbag shorts

Paperbag shorts are a mid to high-waist with extra fabric around the midsection which is typically pleated or brought in with a belt to shape the shorts around your waist. Paperbag shorts are super versatile to style as they compliment all different body shapes. Some will pair the shorts with a cropped top, and others may opt for a ribbed top.

Leather shorts

Leather shorts is exactly what it says on the tin. Coming in all different styles, leather shorts can easily be dressed-up or dressed-down to fit all different occasions. To dress them up, you could opt for a nice top or blazer look, and to dress-down, just throw a tank top on!

Jogger/sweatshirt shorts

Jogger or sweatshirt shorts really came into fashion during the summer of 2020. They embodied a lockdown summer, as these shorts made joggers, weather-proof. These shorts are perfect for relaxing, so they’re great when paired with a cropped hoodie.

Cycling shorts

First rocked by Lady Diana in the 90s, cycling shorts have been circulating in the fashion world for a long time. Many will style these shorts with a baggy sweatshirt, but we don’t want to be overheating this year. Instead, many opt for a baggy but light t-shirt or a cropped top with an open over-sized shirt or shacket for comfort.

Mom shorts

Everyone is going to want a pair of Mom shorts in their wardrobe this summer. They fit with a familiar high waist and straight-leg and are also so easy to dress-up or down! For dressing them up, get that old blazer out or summery blouse that you’ve been saving, or for dressed down, pair with a basic tee. Mom shorts go with everything, so get your bag coordinating with your shoes for a classy look.

Tailored Shorts

Tailored shorts can come in all styles and fits, so there really is a pair for everyone. These fashion throwbacks are also making a return this summer from straight-cut to figure hugging. Tailored shorts are often paired with fitted or cropped tops to accentuate your figure.
