The Comfort Zone is A Beautiful Place

Kamilah Qalbi

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there. I completely disagree with that statement. So before we go any further, what is the definition of “comfort zone” actually?

According to the Oxford dictionary, a comfort zone is a place or situation where one feels safe or at ease and without stress.

Many motivational speakers will tell you that being in your comfort zone isn’t always possible. To progress, you must learn new skills, explore new areas, and take risks. “You are very productive,” then others would say. But we would actually struggle at such times.

What if you’ve just tried to do something that looks amazing and receives a lot of praise, but you’re not into it? It isn’t your personal property. You’re dissatisfied with your current situation. Every day, you feel anxious, stressed, and fatigued. Is it a source of pride for you? Perhaps the answer is yes, technically.

But, is that what growing means? Well, I guess absolutely no. So the term “you should leave your comfort zone” will not suit every condition.

Don’t leave your comfort zone; rather, expand it.

Nothing will matter if you are stressed and feeling uneasy. Stay in your comfort zone and expand it. Looking for a new hobby or pursuing a passion. Don’t listen to individuals who tell you that you should get out of your comfort zone and try to be like them. Each of us has our own distinct personality. Nobody’s life is exactly the same as anyone else’s. Right? We don’t want to live our lives with unsafe feelings, do we?

I was in an environment that was supposed to be a place I could grow. Explore and learn new stuff. But I’ve never been a big fan of it. Every day, I feel as if I’m putting a great burden on my shoulders. I had reached my breaking point one day. I was so tense. I thought I could handle it back then. I can. But even though I did everything perfectly, I didn’t feel that I was growing. I was just like a full-of-thought girl who is trying to fight herself.

Then I made the decision to not live up to my expectations, but to live my life to the fullest. It doesn’t mean I’m trapped with mundane days and nothing to do. I am expanding my comfort zone rather than leaving it for those stressful days.

I love what I do right now. Aside from med school, I create content for my Instagram and YouTube channels. I love it, I gain something for myself, even if it’s not a big thing. But the happiness that I get from what I am doing is the highlight. I appreciate myself better.

If you can cope with hectic days, you should take a break and improve your self-care. You might not think it’s a big deal. However, your body is having difficulty right now. Many diseases are brought on by stress. We may not be aware of the pathway or how it may occur. Emotions, in any case, have effects on every part of our bodies.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article. Do something that enhances and affects your life, yet you are grateful for those moments. A hectic day is fine, but a series of stressful days is a disaster.
