It is time to celebrate the positives that happened in 2020 and see how we can all make the most out of the last month of the year.
2020 has been a year of abnormalities. It has been a year that has gone by so fast, but also felt like 4 years rolled into one. We were locked in and the flour was swept off the shelves as we all attempted Mary Berry’s Banana Bread recipe and the world made it easy to ignore all the good that happened… in the midst of a global pandemic. We want to remind you of all the fantastic things that happened in 2020 and share ways to make December, the final month of 2020, the best one yet.
This year started with tragedy as bushfires in Australia dominated the news, but since, new plant life has started to emerge in the once burning forests, providing new habitats for animals. In London earlier this year, a second person had been cured of HIV after 30 months virus-free. We also discovered the world’s oldest fossil of the modern bird which dates back as far as 66 million years ago. Tiger King blessed our screens just when we needed it with over 30 million of us streaming in its first 10 days, going down as one of Netflix’s best!
With puzzles, board games and Swingball making a comeback, we were all practising our Tik Tok dances, whether you care to admit it or not, you love it. Captain Tom Moore and so many others raised millions for great causes as communities came together to keep spirits high.
Air quality improved all over the world and the Venice canals ran clear water with the fish visible under the once murky waters. We became innovative, businesses started to change their thinking to thrive. 2020 taught us to find happiness in the smaller things in life and feel grateful for the freedoms we have. Checking up on our friends was a regular occurrence and making Zoom quizzes were a weekly task (love it or hate it, we still took part). We gave back to our elders and looked out for the vulnerable. Our faith was restored as we clapped on our doorsteps.
2020, we laughed, cried, and learnt a lot.
Let’s make the most out of the last 31 days. Try a new recipe, and revisit that skill you learned during the first lockdown. Check on your loved ones and get some use out of that Christmas jumper – it doesn’t have the same effect in January! Try that task you never got round to doing! Bite the bullet. Embrace all the fantastic things that happened in 2020 and let us make 2021 a beautiful one.
