Leana’s Bucket List

Leana Goulden

You either love it or hate it. They’ve been around for years and years!

For some, it’s biblical.. the list to live by and for others, it’s a load of made-up junk from the land of make-believe.

My opinion on the matter is that it is each to their own, it doesn’t hurt anyone and what’s the harm in it.. it is only a list after all.

What a list mine is… I’m a strong believer in having an imagination and dreaming big. Some of the things on my bucket list are totally achievable… others, not so much.

My Bucket List

An image of staff stood outside The Ritz hotel, London.
  1. Stay at The Ritz for Christmas

This jumped on to my bucket list last year after I watched a programme on ITV. The programme was called ‘Inside the Ritz Hotel.’ It was absolutely phenomenal. The sheer effort that each member of staff puts into every single tiny detail was applaudable! Every member of staff is valued and it really does show, I fell in love with the programme and the place. It is now somewhere marked strongly on my wish-list, whether that be for afternoon tea, an evening meal or the full Christmas experience.. it is something I will do one day!

2. Go to Skopelos (the island where they filmed Mamma Mia) – maybe find my love whilst I’m there… a girl can dream!

This is hands down one of my favourite films with one of the most beautiful settings. I’ve spent countless times singing and dancing to this soundtrack, I love everything about it! The reason that it is on my bucket list is that I really want to go and explore this lovely island. I want to walk around, spotting different areas from different scenes. It would be so fun and I could spend five minutes pretending that I, myself, was an extra on the movie set!

3. Swim with pigs

Swimming with pigs in the Bahamas.. does that not sound like complete bliss! You travel in to Big Major Cay and find yourself treated with these sweet little inhabitants! They are so excited to see you, I would just adore that!! The locals of Big Major Cay refer to it as ‘pig beach.’ These pigs are living the dream and I can honestly say that I am quite envious! To go and see them in there beautiful, sunny habitat would be pretty amazing!

4. Bathe an elephant

Bathing an elephant. This is a one of those experiences that would stay with you for a lifetime! It’s something that is being offered more and more around the world with so many people wanting to get up and close to these magnificent animals. I am definitely one of those people.

5. Get up and close with a Panda (My favourite animal EVER)

When I say that I love this animal, I mean it. From being a little girl, I have banged on about this beautiful animal, “Mummy can I pleeeaaase have that notebook, it’s got a panda bear in it!” I somewhat fulfilled my goals back in 2017 when my mum and stepdad took me to Edinburgh Zoo where I finally saw a real-life Panda!! It was one of the most beautiful moments that I got to share with my mum, something I could only ever dream of when I was a little girl.. a couple of tears may or may not have fallen. Things got even better for me when I visited Berlin in the September of 2017 when I went to their Zoo. I got so much closer and these pandas were so much more active, I was super excited and I felt so overwhelmed about being so close to my favourite animal. Now I’ve only got one thing left to do and that’s to touch one, I’d like to give them a hug but I don’t quite think they’d be happy with that!
