Dear Aspect: Resolutions, Challenges and Uncertainties

Lily O'Keeffe

Dear Aspect, I never stick to my New Years Resolutions, have you got any advice to help me make 2021 my best yet?

This one is so relateable! We think the best way to start is to not set the bar too high, maybe start with monthly goals or measurable targets. It takes on average 66 days to make a habit, so think short term with your resolutions. Remember, don’t pressure yourself too much, make healthy goals, and set worthy rewards. Curveballs always come when you least expect it, so make sure you take care of yourself and always aim to better yourself for 2021 to be the best yet.

Hi Aspect, we’ve all heard about Dry January/ Veganuary… have you got any challenges for January that we haven’t heard of?

This is such a great idea for us to form new habits in 2021! The obvious one is to take part in daily workouts for example Chloe Ting’s Youtube sessions, but we also think that it’d be fun to listen to a new artist every day! Maybe if you’re trying to build a business, make a target of telling 5 new people every day about your brand, or dedicate time every evening to read a chapter of your book. Make January all about working on things you’re passionate about- whether that be taking photographs or learning a new song on the instrument you’ve been trying to perfect. To feel accomplished, maybe you could take time to learn about new things such as climate change!

Aspect… do you have any advice on coping with the uncertainties of 2021?

Take everyday as they come. It is so important that if we take anything from 2020, it’s that we never know what is around the corner. Make the situation you’re in the most comfortable it can be, and practise kindness, not only to others but yourself also.

“There are far, far better things out there than any we leave behind” -C.S. Lewis
