Hey Aspect, how do I stay motivated when I have no energy?
Hope: The one thing you want to do when you feel like you have no energy is to take a break. The feelings so giving up, not caring and having no motivation may mean you’re close to a burn-out. Go and have something to eat, preferably something nutritional and have plenty of water, this will help your body with the energy side of things. For your mind, try to do some reading, chat with a friend or flatmate, or go on your phone for a short amount of time. You need to give your brain a break if you have been concentrating and working for a long period of time.
Aspect, my social bar is feeling low and I have a group project due soon! How do I make sure I’m on top of my game?
Hope: I know this feeling! It’s worse when it is university-related because there is not much you can do to get out of it. Obviously, take some time for yourself and do some individual work. Everyone experiences the feeling of wanting to escape their group mates, so the best you can do is make sure you have ‘me’ time. However, this does not mean that you should not distance yourself from the group or decrease the amount of input you’re putting into the group project. As much as you can, keep in contact with your group mates (by a group chat if you have one) as the more time you talk to them and spend time with them you may find yourself being able to be around them longer and longer.
Dear Aspect, I’m not a morning person at all, how do I become motivated early in the morning?
Hope: I can’t say I am definitely a morning person because due to work and university, I have no choice but to get up. However, I can tell you a couple of things that work for me. So, the first thing is to set an alarm but place it somewhere within the room like a shelf, bookcase or table. If your alarm is right next to you then it is easier to turn it off and go back to sleep. If it is on the other side of the room then you’ll have to get out of bed to turn it off and then you’re up. The other thing I do is get out of bed as soon as I wake up because I know that if I linger in bed then I won’t want to get out. As soon as I am up, I go and do my morning routine as it makes me feel more awake and ready for the day. While these won’t be suitable for everyone, it won’t hurt to give them a go!
