Dear Aspect: Love Island Edition

Leana Goulden

Hugo has gone, Brett is in…. drama, well we’ve had plenty of that!

Dear Aspect, Are Jake and Lib going to last much longer?

Leana: I’m sorry to say it but… nope, I can’t see them lasting much longer at all. I think the video tapes were just a bit of a nail in the coffin for Lib and honestly it’s been sad to watch her since. The confidence has been drained from her and a billion questions have been rolling through her brain about the longevity of their relationship. I think potentially they could slide their way through to the end but I can’t say I see them making it on the outside.

Hey Aspect, Should the explosive Teddy and Faye episode have been aired?

Leana: So, I have a bit of honesty to hand out here, I made an OFCOM complaint… I was a Karen and I don’t feel bad about my decision. Yes, it’s lovely that they’re cushty together again now but the other night felt honestly unbearable to watch. The screaming, the isolation, the rudeness… not for me that. I just think that the situation massively needed diffusing and instead, for ‘entertainment purposes’, it was continued. The argument grew and grew to a point of no return. It was a hard watch, most definitely. My argument was that there’s no chance that would have been allowed to take place if the roles had been reversed. Equally, in a world where three lives have been lost due to the consequences of this show, I believe the producers should have been thinking about the bigger picture. Faye’s family would have to see the abuse and death threats and ultimately, so will she when she leaves. By airing such scenes, a view is adapted by viewers whom then make the decision to troll. As I said, it was difficult to watch and I don’t think for a minute that it should have aired.

Aspect, Goss on the newbies?

Leana: In all honesty, I think each and every newbie has had a tough ride throughout this series… trying to fit in, finding love and facing pretty speedy evictions. I feel like if you don’t settle quickly this time around, you can’t stay which is honestly just a bit meh. The new islanders this year haven’t really had the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships because everything is so forced and speedy. I think the dumping have been too often this year and far too quick after others arrivals.
